Wave Hill

Yes, I know there is a large whole in this blog! Along with wedding and event design, I was writing my next floral design book. The subject is wedding flowers and I don't know the exact title yet but it will be published late 2010 by Sterling. As with Flower Style, this book will also will be available through Barnes & Noble. I'm very excited - some of my favorite vendors have contributed their photos or product: Ron Ben-Israel Cakes, the Original Runner company's hand painted aisle runners, Ann from the Total Table was very generous with linens, and as always, flowers from George Rallis (one of the original wholesalers in the NYC floral market) contribute to the beautiful new photos (by Robert Gattullo, as in Flower Style).

Wave Hill in Riverdale was the beautiful setting for a romantic September wedding in hues of pale pink and antique gold. The existing tent was dressed up with pale pink paper garlands on the ceiling and delicate glass hanging tea lights provided subtle illumination. The tables had numerous votives and the entire terrace was framed with frosted votives so guests could enjoy the outdoor area all evening.

Here are some photos of the subtle pink and beige centerpieces at Wave Hill. The dinner, by Great Performances, was in the outdoor tented area and the soft muted colors were exquisite at sunset. The pale pink napkins and chair cushions add a custom touch, perfectly matching the roses in the centerpieces. The weather was beautiful!
