The press mingled with the public while the judges carefully pored over every "Fire & Ice" themed table design. I am very proud that my table was chosen to receive the award for "Delicate Harmony". The judges felt my "exquisite flowers perfectly complimented the icy elements" of my design! Thanks to Angel Hernandez for her creative assistance, the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;"><a href="http://www.totaltable.com/" style="text-decoration: none; ">Total Table</a> </span>for beautiful linens, and the always exquisite flowers from George Rallis. One is my designer table at the Horticultural Society of NY Flower Show and Gala. The April 12th event offers a ticketed public viewing from 3-5 pm before the gala dinner dance. A great opportunity to see some beautiful table designs and get inspiration for upcoming weddings and parties.<div>The other project is a musical version of RAPUNZEL at Lehman College. Music professor Penny Prince wrote original music and lyrics and the talented cast provided the script - a very creative collaboration! I made Rapunzel's braid (and will reveal just how long it is after the show), a cabbage garden and contributed to the set design.</div><div>Watch for photos of both!</div>Diane Wagnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08270497579549134005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6484944933708666305.post-79919073180688877392011-04-03T17:27:00.000-07:002011-04-03T17:39:03.116-07:00The GroomThe groom will often attend the floral consultation to be supportive to the bride but feel that he doesn't have much to say about flowers. A good way to get him involved is to spend a few minutes focusing on the boutonnieres. I like to match the boutonniere to the bouquet in flower type and color. Obviously, if the bride is carrying large, full, open peonies, a good match for the boutonniere would be a ranunculus or pretty spray rose. If he balks at wearing flowers suggest a sleek mini calla lily with a loop of lily grass. Seasonal accents can be very attractive - I've done guinea hen feathers for the fall, clusters of bright yellow craspedia in the sumer, and small orchids or subtle florets of green hydrangea for a less "floral" look.Diane Wagnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08270497579549134005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6484944933708666305.post-72291934449820830102011-03-07T10:26:00.000-08:002011-03-07T10:41:00.684-08:00Spring GalaI am very pleased to have been invited (for the second year) to design a table for the <a href="http://hsny.org/support_specialevents_nyfs_designers.html" style="text-decoration:none"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;">Horticultural Society</span></a> of New York's spring gala! The dried flowers can become a charming decor accents on their own or can be used in baskets, wreaths or for potpourri. See my books for lots of fun (and easy) ideas! <a href="http://www.amazon.com/" ie="UTF8&qid=" ref="'sr_1_1?s=" sr="'1-1" 1style=""><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#ff6666;">BEAUTIFUL WEDDING FLOWERS </span></a>and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/" s="books&qid=" ref="'pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=" dp="" sr="1-1" 1588166317=""><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#ff6666;">VICTORIA, FLOWER STYLE</span></a><span style="WHITE-SPACE: pre" class="Apple-tab-span"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#ff6666;"> </span></span>Diane Wagnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08270497579549134005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6484944933708666305.post-81120266238607189652011-02-26T11:45:00.000-08:002011-02-26T12:08:03.800-08:00On the Shelves! For those of you that can't wait for the mail, BEAUTIFUL WEDDING FLOWERS is available in Barnes & Noble store. <a href="http://www.eric-hildebrand.com/" style="text-decoration:none"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FFCC99;">Eric Hildebrand</span></a> was the first to spot it! <span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px; font-family:Arial, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;"><a href="http://plixi.com/p/77459323" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="twitter-timeline-link" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-decoration: underline; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#CC66CC;">http://plixi.com/p/77459323</span></span></a></span>Diane Wagnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08270497579549134005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6484944933708666305.post-85786095125845547192011-02-21T13:08:00.000-08:002011-02-21T13:48:27.148-08:00DIY Brides<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyMQZ79avjO39ouutBYTRCbICn-n00IRfmY8Tkv_n8WDWBgNV38AakusBlEtTz3RJaRn4NHK8zyyE0E8rMzgP9lwmwOkR2TrdYKmpT-ubJXg_B1wGUMszrqud-5Rc-08QWkM-RuADvUw/s1600/Flower-Style-Cover-web.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 128px; height: 144px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyMQZ79avjO39ouutBYTRCbICn-n00IRfmY8Tkv_n8WDWBgNV38AakusBlEtTz3RJaRn4NHK8zyyE0E8rMzgP9lwmwOkR2TrdYKmpT-ubJXg_B1wGUMszrqud-5Rc-08QWkM-RuADvUw/s320/Flower-Style-Cover-web.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5576261769759352866" /></a>For all you DIY brides, and everyone else who loves flowers, take a look at my first book, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Victoria-Flower-Style-Arrangements-Occasion/dp/1588166317/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216041357&sr=1-1"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;">VICTORIA, FLOWER STYLE</span></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;"> </span><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>for step-by-step instructions to make every floral design in the book! If you need a little color, and the promise of spring, buy just one or two special blooms. Try pale pink or deep burgundy peonies (yes, they are available now) or a beautiful rose. Cut the stems short and float in a special bowl - cut crystal, pottery, or colored glass. Surround with votives or other candles and you have a fragrant, inviting display with little expense and no fuss!<div>See <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Wedding-Flowers-Corsages-Centerpieces/dp/1588167984/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1294799904&sr=1-1" com="" centerpieces="" dp="" 1588167984="" ref="sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1294799904&sr=1-1" style="text-decoration:none"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;">BEAUTIFUL WEDDING FLOWERS</span></a> (where else?) pages 55 and 219 for some pretty examples.</div>Diane Wagnerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08270497579549134005noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6484944933708666305.post-88659798175858167632011-01-22T14:08:00.000-08:002011-02-09T07:27:05.696-08:00A little help from my friends!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZnn2AF5BamdJL6Qs3VcWL5aWB0NoE6t4EVHszu2Xtbq_B9kJXbBMSxi-dZV9tfBBjTgeucXfRwd26kIYivPSkLffe_S4HjVL8KCzGyRf9Nk5Isol0A8u03a2Ue5EPVRVSeSIwmseyqw/s1600/DSC_3746.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 212px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZnn2AF5BamdJL6Qs3VcWL5aWB0NoE6t4EVHszu2Xtbq_B9kJXbBMSxi-dZV9tfBBjTgeucXfRwd26kIYivPSkLffe_S4HjVL8KCzGyRf9Nk5Isol0A8u03a2Ue5EPVRVSeSIwmseyqw/s320/DSC_3746.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565141240496550706" /></a><br />Now that <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Beautiful-Wedding-Flowers-Corsages-Centerpieces/dp/1588167984/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1294799904&sr=1-1" com="" centerpieces="" dp="" 1588167984="" ref="sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1294799904&sr=1-1" style="text-decoration:none"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;">BEAUTIFUL WEDDING FLOWERS</span></a> is available, I want everyone to know that it includes gorgeous photos and expert tips from several of my favorites in related areas of the wedding business: master cake maker <a href="http://www.weddingcakes.com/#/home/" style="text-decoration:none"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;">Ron Ben-Israel</span></a> (page 195), creative Julie Goldman from the <a href="http://originalrunners.com/?gclid=CKfLzt6j-6YCFYSK4Aodr0LqGA" style="text-decoration:none"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;">Original Runner Company</span></a> (page 117), and fabulous Ann Davis of the equally fabulous <a href="http://www.totaltable.com/" style="text-decoration:none"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF6666;">Total Table</span> </a>(page 143). I'm very excited to have so many of my floral ideas and tips published in a beautiful hardcover edition. The book offers information to help brides at every step, from selecting a florist to working on a color scheme and choosing bouquet flowers. She came to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF9900;"><a href="http://www.surroundingsflowers.blogspot.com/" style="text-decoration:none">Surroundings Flowers & Events</a></span> where I, along with her mother, convinced her to reconsider. The result is this very subtle combination of flowers. White cymbidum orchids were the only concession to tradition with burgundy scabious, acid green dendrobium orchids, deep purple lisianthus and veronica completing the color scheme. The bouquet stems were bound with sage green tafetta and the bouquet was wrapped with curly willow. The result was distinctive, beautiful, and perfect for the bride!<br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqFMRommGMcRuK5xdE1v17K4vjTefQVhNmVzk5RzCjXNH4rMHYlZL6obnLlUARHYBR0nAhhbnHJkQcxCAe-zG3vcspAUOD-Ti4rb1evOtDWN_5ETjsitfZcT4gAyJjOGkCWN4PA6_6hw/s1600/2.Katz+chuppah+2.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqFMRommGMcRuK5xdE1v17K4vjTefQVhNmVzk5RzCjXNH4rMHYlZL6obnLlUARHYBR0nAhhbnHJkQcxCAe-zG3vcspAUOD-Ti4rb1evOtDWN_5ETjsitfZcT4gAyJjOGkCWN4PA6_6hw/s200/2.Katz+chuppah+2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5539588635151088482" /></a>The chuppah, constructed in front of the NYBG arbor, was of cream chiffon in classic lines.
